- Cycle time (playing time / cycle): the time taken to complete colour cycle in order (red-green-yellow-red).
- Signal aspect (aspect signal): the order of the flame is indicated by a traffic signal lights. Sequence of signal aspects are: red + yellow-red-green-yellow (UK) and red-green-yellow (U.S. & Indonesia). In Britain, long time = 3 seconds yellow, and red time + yellow = 2 seconds)
