Objectives and how Traffic Management application.
The purpose of traffic management strategies to be applied
is essentially to solve a specific problem in an effort to reduce the delays,
congestions and accidents that have occurred. This chapter will be elaborated
on some of the goals and how the implementation of a management strategy and
its effects.
Strategy with the
aim of increasing the capacity of existing road (to increase of the existing
road facilities)
To increase the capacity of existing roads, can be done in
various ways as shown below.
- Perform widening of roads (road widening) when the road was not able to accommodate traffic flow of the request (demand)
- Organize and place the traffic signal at an intersection when the traffic flow volume has reached the limit.
- Set the current operating system with one-way street when the conditions and terms possible.
- Do the restrictions and / or prohibition of vehicles turn when the road network is available.
- Make a special signal phase for vehicles turning (turning phase of signals)
- Make carpools (car ride): as three-in-one on the Jakarta, Indonesia
To implement one or more of these strategies, careful
consideration needs to be done, regarding site conditions and requirements for
the promulgation of the strategy in question. This means that not all the 6
(six) strategy is suitable for a particular condition.
