Traffic signal is installed when an intersection has reached a certain volume and time delay. How to analyze an intersection with a traffic signal is to assume the mainstream and secondary currents make a motion to join or cut (merging or crossing movement). The use of traffic signals would be advantageous if the volume that passes through an intersection exceeds 800 vehicles per hour, with poor distance vision, or 1200 vehicles per hour when both distance-view (not obstructed by surrounding buildings)
Installation of traffic signals will reduce the conflict point (point of con-flics) compared to just using traffic signs only.
