Handling of Traffic Safety Management Strategy

Traffic safety problems need attention, not only managers but also the public road. Without an active public role, handling these problems unlikely to succeed.

To address traffic safety issues need to know the factors involved in this issue. Of accident data that happens, the human factor plays an important cause of the accident (in 1996 +/- 97%), and the victim died five years, more than 10,000 people. Data also showed that motorists, pedestrians and cyclists have a high level of vulnerability. Similarly, in terms of age, children and adolescents have higher levels of vulnerability compared with older age.

To reduce accidents at dangerous locations, can be done with the four basic strategies:
1) Single site or 'blackspots' treatment of specific types of accidents at a single location, with a fairly high number of accidents. The handling of this type is most often performed because it directly on the target and relatively inexpensive.
2) Mass Action Plan (Action Plan for Mass), performed for a particular type, such as improvement of road surface roughness on the location of the accident-prone locations.
3) Route Action Plan (Action Plan on the route), performed on the main road which is often an accident. Such as: improvement of road markings, installation of speed restriction signs, reducing or disallowing the flow of vehicles turning, parking arrangements, improved street lighting, etc..
4) Area Wide Schemes (Expansion Plan Area), carried out if an area is prone to accidents. Therefore treatment needs to be done systematically throughout the area, such as speed, access, etc.
