Local governments also have associations that
sponsor activities in the highway and public transportation fields. An example
is the National Association of Counties and its affiliated National Association
of County Engineers (NACE). Among its other activities has been the publication
of a series of technical and management manuals. The National League of Cities
and the American Public Works Association operate in a parallel manner.
